Turkish polyurethane systems house Kimpur (Kimteks Poliüretan) announced on 19 May 2026 that it has established an 80%-owned subsidiary together with fellow Turkish producer Kobe Polyurethane. Kobe brings annual sales potential of around 10,000 tonnes, with roughly 55% of its portfolio sitting outside Kimpur's existing product range and about 40% of its output exported, mainly to Europe and the CIS. Kobe keeps its brand while production moves to Kimpur facilities.
The logic of the deal is portfolio breadth rather than raw tonnage. Kimpur states that around 55% of Kobe's products fall outside its own current range, so the combination adds specialty and niche systems rather than simply duplicating existing grades. Kobe's founder Nisso Behar continues as an executive partner and vice-chairman, and the company retains its brand identity even as manufacturing consolidates onto Kimpur's infrastructure.
For context, Kimpur describes itself as operating around 280,000 tonnes of polyurethane systems capacity across sites in Türkiye and Latvia, and Kobe exports roughly 40% of its output, mainly to Europe and the CIS region. Folding that export-oriented specialty portfolio into a larger systems-house structure is a consolidation move that strengthens Kimpur's position across a wider set of application segments.
For the Turkish polyurethane market the transaction is a sign of maturation: domestic systems houses are scaling and consolidating rather than competing purely on commodity grades. For buyers, a broader specialty range from a single local supplier can simplify sourcing. As always, though, it also concentrates more of the supply base in fewer hands.
